Robert’s role is to provide bespoke financial planning advice to expatriates in Japan and their subsequent countries of residence. He has 26 years’ experience in the financial planning industry and holds professional qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Insurance in the UK.

Career background

Robert began his career with Lloyds Bank in the UK, moving to the Standard Bank of South Africa in Johannesburg then returning to the UK to rejoin the Lloyds Bank group. Before moving to Japan in 1999, Robert had spells in the insurance industry with Friends Provident and General Accident. In 2004, Robert and his partners initiated a branch office in Japan for the IFG Group plc. In 2014, he and his partners successfully concluded a management buy-out of IFG at which point the business became known as AP Advisers Ltd.   

Achievements & Interests

Robert was awarded the British Chamber of Commerce Japan's Person of the Year award in 2015 for contributions to the British community in Japan and for his charitable work with the Knights in White Lycra amateur cycling team which has raised Y37 Million for disadvantaged children in Japan. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, golf, and spending time with family.
